Way to go, Tony.

June 1st, 2010

Just a quick report on the Silver Medal Awards Ceremony for our mighty leader Tony Pearman. The event was held last Thursday at Metamorphosis in downtown Roanoke. The venue was very nice and Tony was genuinely touched by the scores of friends, well-wishers, family members and Silver Medalists who were there for the fun.

You notice you don’t say former Silver Medal recipients. Nor are they Silver Medal Winners. A Silver Medal is something that is earned through a lifetime of service…it is “won” through a steady, unrelenting dedication to excellence. This is personified in people like John Will Creasy, Jan Wilkins, Robin Chalkley, Greg Vaughn, Sandy Murray, David Hodge, Julie McDowell, Dale Poindexter, Richard Boyd, Greg Vaughn, Terri Jones, Jim Webster and others…the list goes on and on and reaches to the roots of our industry in the Roanoke ad industry while it shines a light on what we all should aspire to become. A Silver Medal is for keeps.

Granted, we are a little biased, but we ardently believe that Tony has been a Silver Medalist for some years now. He gives a lot to his industry and to our community.

But we’d like to take this occasion to thank Ananda Young for a great job of coordinating the event. Gary, Todd and Jessica lent a hand in various aspects and Kirk Ray of Motion Adrenalin put together the video. Kris Bailey made a rare on-screen appearance. Amy Nance-Pearman and the crew at Community Inn put on a darn fine afterparty that stretched well into the night. There were even special commemorative t-shirts.

As for Tony Pearman, he was gracious and humble and seemed to really enjoy his special evening. We are confident his career will be stellar for decades to come. But when it comes to the Silver Medal, he’s been there, done that and worn the T-shirt home.
