Access, Inc. is an American advertising agency serving clients primarily in the eastern United States. Access is headquartered in Roanoke with an office in Richmond, Virginia where it maintains an alliance with Advantus Strategies.
The agency serves clients in a number of industries including healthcare, higher education and b-to-b. Clients include HCA Virginia Virginia Tech, Marshall University,TMEIC GE,Optical Cable Corporation, CMR Institute, among other regional and national clients.
Access was named Blue Ridge Business Journal’s Best Place to Work in 2007. Among over 300 awards won since its inception, Access was recognized with Best in Shows by the Advertising Federation of Western Virginia in 1998, 2000, 20001, and 2004. The firm has worked on many significant projects including packaging for AmrRhein’s Wine Cellars that was recognized with a National Addy in 2003, and earned a CASE award for work on behalf of Roanoke College. Access is very active in the community and has been recognized for child abuse prevention efforts, and by the Roanoke Police Department, the YMCA of the Roanoke Valley, the Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation, Marshall University, and many others for the agency’s philanthropic and pro bono efforts. In 2006, Access became the first advertising firm to be honored by the Perry F. Kendig Award by the Arts Council of the Blue Ridge for support of the arts in Western Virginia.
History
A product of the business incubation concept, Access was founded in 1996 by Tony Pearman and Todd Marcum in the New Century Business Center. Access was honored as the National Business Incubation Association’s graduate of the year in Toronto in 2002. The firm’s staff includes three recipients of the Advertising Person of the Year award (Tony Pearman, Gary Gilmore and Terri Jones), a multiple Emmy and Peabody Award Winner (John Carlin), and an American Advertising Federation Silver Medal Recipient (Jones). Terri Jones was also recognized at the National Press Club as PRNews’ Agency Executive of the Year in 2007.
In 2008, Access moved into a 18,000 square-foot office building at 701 Patterson Avenue. Built in 1929, the building, which had stood largely vacant for nearly two decades, once housed Blue Ridge Motors a Buick dealer, and Double Cola’s regional bottling facility.
