Access is a Favorite!

December 30th, 2009

We at Access Advertising & Public Relations moved into our new building at 701 Patterson Ave. one year ago.  (December 31, 2008).  Since that time we have become a favorite!  And we have a document and a sticker to prove it.

The Google Favorite Place Sticker on the Access front door.

Google Maps recently contacted Access to tell us we have been listed as a “Google Favorite Place.”  We are pretty sure that’s a good thing.

In the letter signed by Michaela Prescott of the Google Local Business Team, it says that, “between July 1 and September 30, Google users found your Access Inc. listing 580 Times and requested driving directions or other information about your business 109 times.”

Since our new website www.visitaccess.com is now driven by a unique use of Google Maps (which we encourage you to use and enjoy) we think this is pretty cool.

I wanted to know how unique this distinction was, so I sought to call Google and ask.  Alas there were no obvious phone numbers for PR agencies to call.  (In fact, one message said calls not from the media would not be returned.  Darn, if only I still had my press credentials!)  So, I did the next best thing – I Googled it.

According to the Google search, there are about 100,000 businesses that have been named “Favorite Places.”  That’s gonna be about, let’s see, 2,000 per state right?  That’s reasonably rare I think, and let’s face it, the whole idea is to stand out!

In its very Google way, the site did offer some notable “Favorite Places” in cities that are not Roanoke.  A search of those shows Access is in the same company as The Red Sox Team Store in Boston, Uncle Julio’s Casa Grande in Atlanta and Frank’s Bike Shop in New York City.  Elite company, no?

Seriously.  We are just happy to be on the map.  Any map.  Glad you’ve been looking for us.
